“I love a sunburnt country ….”
So said Dorothea McKellar in her patriotic ode to Australia’s unique rugged country.
Our little piece of sunburnt country is a place we call Lapsang La.
Named after the magnificent trekking route in Kanchenjunga Nepal, Lapsang La nestles in pristine Guises Range in the New South Wales Snowy Mountains.
Our interest in using the land started with fragrance - lavender, then a small venture into peonies (the venture that grew) and orris root (the venture that requires patience), followed by beautiful roses, lilies and tuberoses. Before we knew it, a micro flower farm had evolved.
Organic and permaculture practices are coupled with a "Slow" growing philosophy. We make landscape and climate-specific farming decisions with an eye to the future, understanding and embracing local variability in climate and landscape.
